Kingsford the Barossa

The Kingsford Homestead is located in the Barossa Valley in South Australia, not far from Tanunda. The whole area has a long history of German settlement and the owners of the homestead like to reflect this.

Our picture shows the brand new facility. You will notice the difference to Tenpin, with the lighter coloured strip in the approach. This is where the ball has to be set down, before the foul line.

Kingsford Homestead was the setting for the television drama “McLeod’s Daughters” and was purchased by the current owners Stefan and Leanne Ahrens when the filming was stopped in 2009 and is currently undergoing a large redevelopment.

The Ahrens family has a long German history that goes back to the 18 century and this influenced the decision to have 2 Kegel 9-pin bowling lanes installed.

The nearby town of Tanunda still operates a traditional Kegel lane that was first established in 1858.
